Data Notes:

▪ For seasonal influenza vaccination, coverage estimates are for persons interviewed October 2009 through June 2010 who reported being vaccinated August 2009 through May 2010. For influenza A (H1N1) 2009 monovalent vaccination, coverage estimates are for persons interviewed November 2009 through June 2010 who reported being vaccinated October 2009 through May 2010. These estimates exclude U.S. territories.

▪ % = weighted percentage of population vaccinated. Percentages are weighted to the non-institutionalized, U.S. civilian population. Month of vaccination was imputed for respondents with missing month of vaccination data.

▪ CI = 95% confidence interval half-width.

▪ HP 2020 target = Healthy People 2020 coverage levels established to reduce the burden of vaccine preventable diseases. The HP 2020 target is 70% influenza vaccination coverage.

▪ NA = not applicable.

▪ NR = not reported.

▪ Selected high-risk conditions include asthma, other lung problems, diabetes, heart disease, kidney problems, anemia, weakened immune system caused by a chronic illness or by medicines taken for a chronic illness.

▪ Race/ethnicity is based on parental or self report. Persons categorized as white, black, Asian, American Indian or Alaska Native, or other or multiple races were identified as non-Hispanic. Persons identified as Hispanic might be of any race. The other or multiple races category included Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, multiracial, and other races. Persons identified as multiracial had more than one race category selected.

▪ Initial target group includes pregnant women, health-care and emergency medical services personnel, children and young adults aged 6 months-24 years, and persons aged 25-64 years who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complication.

▪ The following estimates were based on National 2009 H1N1 Flu Survey (NHFS) data only: 1) Seasonal influenza vaccination coverage estimates among children in Arkansas, Colorado, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Vermont, and Virginia. 2) Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 monovalent vaccination coverage estimates among adults in Vermont and among children in Arkansas, Colorado, North Carolina, and Vermont. 3) Any influenza vaccination (seasonal and/or influenza A (H1N1) 2009 monovalent) coverage estimates among adults in Vermont and among children in Arkansas, Colorado, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Vermont, and Virginia.

▪ See the final online report for further data analysis description.
