Data Notes:

• During the seven influenza seasons spanning 2010-11 through 2016-17, 41 states and NYC participated in PRAMS. Participating states varied by season with 13 states participating during all seven seasons. States with response rates ≤ 65% from 2010-2011, ≤ 60% from 2012-2014, and ≤ 55% from 2015-2016 were excluded from analysis for that seasonal year.

• The following is a list of states that submitted data for only one year during the respective influenza season: 2010-2011: OH, TX (2010) PA (2011); 2011-2012: NM (2011) AK, CO, HI, MI, OH, TN, WI (2012); 2012-2013: GA, OH (2012) IA, NH (2013); 2013-2014: AR, CO, GA, MI, MN, OR (2013) AL,CT, NJ, OH (2014); 2014-2015: RI (2014) AR, CO, LA, MI, OR, TX, VA (2015); 2015-2016: AL, HI, OH, OR, TN (2015) RI (2016); 2016-2017: AR, NE, TX (2016) AL, GA, KS, KY, NC, ND, SD (2017) Data from NYC are included in NY.

• To assess differences in vaccination coverage for states that reported only one year during the influenza season, we conducted sensitivity analyses. Vaccination coverage for states that reported only during the first year of the influenza season tended to be understated by about 5 percentage points whereas coverage among states that reported only the second year tended to be overstated by about 5 percentage points.

• Since there were no major changes to the vaccination questions on the PRAMS questionnaire from 2012 through 2017, the flu vaccination information collected were considered to be comparable across seasons.

• Data on influenza vaccination was obtained from core survey questions from 2012-2017, which were asked by all participating states.

• In 2016 and 2017, VT released race/ethnicity data for non-Hispanic whites (NH Whites) but not for the other racial/ethnic groups as other states reported, consequently that is the only racial/ethnic group reported from VT for the 2015-2016 and the 2016-2017 seasons.

• Coverage estimates are for women 18 years and older who had a recent live birth September through the subsequent May of each season, and reported being vaccinated before or during pregnancy from August through April of each season.

• % = weighted percentage of population vaccinated. Percentages are weighted to adjust for complex survey design and nonresponse.

• CI = 95% confidence interval half-width.

• Diff = the difference between the state estimate and the median estimate.

Footnotes:

* Estimates not reliable because sample size is <30.

† Estimates not reliable because relative standard error is >0.3.

‡ Estimates might not be reliable because confidence interval half-width is >10.
